of Two Trios - The County Line Trio & The Cumberland
Trio
There are a lot
of us guys (girls too) who were in folk-singing groups while
in college in the sixties, or later after college. Two of
them have recently issued CDs which we're pleased to be
able to offer you.
THE COUNTY
LINE TRIO - GOING HOME
The County Line Trio was formed in 1969 and have been going
ever since. For three guys who aren't Nick, Bob & Dave (or
John), they sound a lot (and even look a lot) like them.
Take a listen.
THE CUMBERLAND
TRIO
Not to be confused with John Stewart's Cumberland Three
(although it's easy to do), the Cumberland Trio has a legitimate
claim to the name, coming from Tennessee and having lived
on Cumberland Road. They achieved a degree of fame that
most of us didn't, having appeared on the ABC-TV
HOOTENANNY show and having had an album produced by
Chet Atkins. The album was to have been released by RCA,
but never was, and the 14 songs that were recorded for that
album in 1964 are included on this
CD along with nine others recorded in live performances
and recording sessions in 1963. You're likely to enjoy them
all.
