Television Broadcast of the Trio's 2004 Live Reunion Concert
DVD
The Cumberland
Trio was a prominent folk music group in the 1960s folk
era which appeared on ABC-TV's Hootenanny prime time Saturday
night show 3 times, won the National Collegiate Folk Festival,
recorded for RCA produced by Chet Atkins and performed numerous
college & folk club concerts, including the famed Bitter
End in NY City in May, 1964 when then unknown comedian Bill
Cosby opened for them!
The group reunited in 2000 and has recorded two live reunion
concerts (2001 & 2004), available on both DVD and CD
and is performing concerts at music halls & major festivals,
such as Riverbend 2002 & 2005. Their music is being
played on major NPR/ Americana/ Bluegrass/ Folk music radio
stations across the USA and in Europe.
PBS television affiliate WTCI-TV 45 (Comcast Cable channel
5) in Chattanooga, TN presented the debut television broadcast
of the Trio's 2004 live reunion concert DVD, "Back
Where We Began," featuring special guests Taylor Pie
and Lou Wamp, from 6PM-8PM, Saturday, December 10, 2005,
with plans to syndicate it to other PBS stations throughout
the USA during 2006. |

The
Cumberland Trio release the new Live Concert double
CD & DVD, "Back Where We Began," AND
perform a concert at the 25th anniverary Riverbend
Music Festival on the Tennessee river in downtown
Chattanooga,TN, BOTH on June 17!!
The Trio
performed a full 1 1/2 hour concert at the 25th anniversary
Riverbend Music Festival in downtown Chattanooga,
TN on Friday, June 17, 9:15-10:45 PM on the fabulous
AmSouth Stage, a beautiful natural amphitheatre with
great acoustics and seating under the historic Walnut
Street Pedestrian Bridge. The Trio and their spectacular
all-star cast of musicians, including special guest
famed singer/songwriter Taylor Pie performed many
songs from their SRO September 24, 2004 concert in
Knoxville at the historic Bijou Theatre Center. That
concert was recorded for both DVD video and double
audio CD, which both were released for the first time
on June 17 at the Riverbend concert after the show
and online at the Trio website. This 25th Anniversary
Riverbend Music Festival included a fabulous wide
variety of big-time and regional artists and bands

The DVD Cover and the Double CD Back of the new Trio
DVD/CD "Back Where We Began," can be seen
this announcement. It includes a complete set list
of 29 songs, many of which will be performed by the
Trio on June 17 at Riverbend. Both the DVD and Double
CD are great video and audio live recordings, and
the Trio is proud to be debuting them at Riverbend!

Lou Wamp, now recognized as one of the top three dobro
players in the world, following the recent release
of his new CD, "ResOlution," which is receiving
rave reviews and airplay all over the country and
in Europe as well, will be performing on dobro, violin/fiddle
& Cello www.louwamp.com.
Original Trio acoustic bassist Jim Shuptrine and Bob
Wilkerson on electric bass will provide the "bottom,"
and well-known Knoxville based multi-instrumentalist
Don Cassell will be providing the high notes and "chops"
on mandolin.

Reunion
Concert II
The Cumberland Trio performed Reunion Concert II in
Knoxville on Friday, September 24 at 8:00 PM EDT at
the historic Bijou Theatre Centre downtown, the site
of our original Reunion Concert- Nov 9, 2001. It was
the feature event for the University of Tennessee's
Homecoming 2004 Week End and even better than 2001,
as we had several special guests, including the fabulous
(Susan) Taylor Pie of Pozo Seco Singers fame and others.
It was a 27 song/medley (20 new originals & covers)
full blown two hour plus concert and was recorded
for both CD & DVD. UT sponsored a fabulous reception
for all attendees to meet and greet, renew old friendships
and make new ones with the Trio and each other at
the Marriott downtown following the concert.

Trio
Radio Special Smashing Success in New York City Area
The
May 4, 2003 three hour 60's Folk Era special radio
broadcast - featuring two hours of interviews and
music of The Cumberland Trio - on WFDU-FM
89.1 "Traditions"
hosted by Ron Olesko, was a huge success in the New
York City area radio market. Olesko stated the audience
reaction was the best by far in his great folk show's
23 year history! Ron calls The Trio "A
Mighty Wind - FOR REAL!"

Cumberland Trio Reunion Concert

The
Cumberland Trio Reunites in Knoxville, TN
The
Cumberland Trio Reunion Concert was held on Friday,
November 9, 2001 at The
Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Trio
performed 29 songs, including several medleys and
performed for 2 hours 20 minutes with no intermission.Thousands
of dollars were raised from the sale of tickets that
will benefit the UT School of Music Scholarship Fund.

As a 37th
wedding anniversary present, Jerre's wife Barbara
revives "A Lion Named Sam" as a storybook
for their children, grandchildren, and friends. Illustrated
by New York artist Patricia Mayes, the book contains
the lyrics to the song.
Shortly
after the song is digitally remastered to CD to accompany
the book.
